Martyrs’ Gallery, Star Brewery, between Fisher Street and Castle Ditch Lane, Lewes, BN7 1YJ.
Wednesday 2nd October: 2.00pm–4.30pm
Drawing (un)stil lives and/or the clothed figure (in intriguing contexts). With Art-School style feedback after each pose or task. Our teaching approach is to facilitate a student’s personal expression, not to conform to a prescribed style or technique. Despite there being techniques and approaches – that will with practice, result in a relatively faithful representation of what you see – we believe it is important to encourage confidence in a personal response. Too often instructors impose rules, taboos and ideals. In many classes students end up making replicas of their teacher’s work. Our objective is for the student to find their own visual language
Sessions are stand-alone but offer progression through variety, technique and process. Graphite pencil always available, but each week as we explore working with different narrative poses, we’ll occasionally use different processes too (such as charcoal/pastel/wet media and/or ink and brush).
All drawing materials provided.
£20 per session. Booking in advance essential.
